Securities America Hosts 17th Annual Assistant University Features Keynote Speakers MK Mueller and Wayne Pepper
La Vista, NE, October 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- International trainer and author of the award-winning book 8 to Great: The Powerful Process of Positive Change MK Mueller will open Securities America’s 17th annual Assistant University Oct. 9-10, at the Hilton Omaha. Wayne Pepper, senior coach and presenter from the David Allen Company, will share with attendees the Getting Things Done® methodology on the second day of the conference. Securities America Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ladenburg Thalmann Financial Services Inc. (NYSE MKT: LTS).
Increasing work efficiency and enthusiasm are just two hot topics among more than 30 sessions offered during this two-day intensive workshop. The three educational tracks – Emerging, Experienced and Technology – are designed to help office staff at all levels of experience and responsibility increase their knowledge in technology, compliance, marketing, operations, business management and practice management. The conference combines formalized classroom learning with focused small-group discussions and panels, networking opportunities and hands-on use of Securities America's technology.
“We recognized early on the critical role assistants play in the success of a financial advisory practice,” said Kirk Hulett, Securities America’s executive vice president for strategy and practice management. “Each year we enhance Assistant University to address what we hear and feel are the most important topics to Securities America’s affiliated financial practices.”
New this year is the Acting Principal Meeting, held in conjunction with Assistant University. Fully dedicated to supervision aspects, attendees will return from the meeting with clear direction in becoming a partner with their advisors while remaining compliant with the industry.
All attendees will also be the first to learn about the completely redesigned straight-through processing system, now called New Business Solutions. This single application includes account set up and updates and provides offices a sleeker, faster and more intuitive way to process business. Attendees can get focused, hands-on training, answers and advice from Securities America technology experts at the Technology Solutions Center. Pre-conference sessions focused on the ins and outs of utilizing the Albridge Wealth Reporting system, and best practices for using Securities America’s Managed Opportunities, a flexible, turnkey asset management program.
“Assistant University is an amazing event,” said Crystal Ressler, client service specialist for Edgar Financial Group in Mason City, Iowa. “Last year, I brought back several new ideas and received some great advice from other successful offices. My approach will be different heading into Assistant University this October. My responsibilities have expanded in the past year, so I’m looking forward to networking with experienced office managers and focusing on tactics to help me be even more efficient.”
Other assistants concur that Assistant University isn’t just for those new to the industry.
“Assistant University was 100 percent more valuable the second time around,” said Cheryl Schaul, client service specialist for Synergy Financial Advisors in Midvale, Utah, who is returning to AU for her third consecutive year. “Heading into AU 2014, my advisors view Assistant University as an annual ‘must attend’ opportunity, one you can’t afford not to attend, especially with ever-changing technology and updated compliance rules and tools.”
The annual event is also an opportunity for a meeting of the Sales Assistant Advisory Board, whose members represent office staff from across the country. This meeting, along with scheduled conference calls throughout the year, provides an opportunity for assistants to offer improvement ideas and initiatives to Securities America based on their experiences from the front lines.
