Pine Forest Camp, Lake Owego Camp, Camp Timber Tops, and TOP Camps Accepting New Campers and Staff Applications
Registration open for summer 2015.
Philadelphia, PA, October 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Pine Forest Camp, Lake Owego Camp, Camp Timber Tops, and TOP Camps are currently recruiting campers and staff members for summer 2015. Located in the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, these camps offer an all-around activity program with an emphasis on fun.
Their camp story started in 1931 when Hughie Black, a professional basketball player and teacher, opened Pine Forest Camp in Greeley, PA. Pine Forest, now in its 85th summer and a national award winner, remains the all-around full season camp that Hughie envisioned.
In the early 1960’s, Hughie’s children, Marvin and Annette Black and Ted and Libby Halpern, found that many families were looking for a shorter term session and started two of the first “half session” camps on the east coast; Lake Owego for Boys in 1961 followed by its sister camp, Timber Tops for Girls, in 1963.
In 2007, Hughie and Selma’s grandchildren, Camp Directors Mickey and Barbara Black, who had been running the three camp family since the mid-1980’s, opened Top Ranch Riding Camp, offering a ten day riding camp for girls at Timber Tops. Mickey and Barbara were soon joined by their children, Hughie’s great grandchildren, Anna Black Morin and Lee Forest Black and Anna’s husband, Eric Morin. A six day Top Cooks Camp opened in 2010 and in 2012, a seven day Top Adventure camp and a five day Basketball Camp.
