E-Poetry for Children: Monsters Behave! App Spurs Creativity and Fun in Language Education

Berlin, Germany, October 20, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Monsters Behave!, the first educational iPad app by German family business Linguino is now available for USD 1.99 / GBP 1,49 in the App Store. By using a mix of linguistic puzzles and mini games with little misbehaving monsters, the app helps children age 6 to 8 to playfully spur their love for language through word plays and poetry. Yet, when assisted by their parents, even younger children can have great fun with the language game.

“Gaming is fun. That’s why kids learn best in a playful environment,” says Managing Director of Linguino Wolfgang Schwarz. “While laughing about the mischievous monsters, our app playfully introduces them to the beautiful facets of language.” Monsters Behave!’s innovative approach of combining linguistic quizzes and mini games supports the development of language skills particularly well, thus fostering creative thinking and intellectual abilities.

The business was founded by Wolfgang and his childhood friend Johannes Martiny, who left their jobs in 2013 to follow their wish of becoming social entrepreneurs. The learning concept behind Linguino’s apps grounds on the professional experience of Wolfgang’s mother and established children’s book author Regina Schwarz. “From my workshops with children I know that poetry and word plays are the best tools to develop a solid and sustainable feeling for language,” she says. “Wolfgang, Johannes and the rest of the Linguino team did a wonderful job embedding these tools in a modern setting that is able to reach today’s children.” Friends and other family members make up the rest of the Linguino team. One of them is Michael Schobler, another old stager of the children’s book and game market, and illustrator of more than 180 publications. He gave the monsters their distinctive look. For the English edition Linguino managed to win over Dr Ampersand Parenthesis, the mad professor from the Linguino Language Labs.

First released in 2013, Monsters Behave! gained a lot of traction and praising reviews in the German-speaking market. “The fun spark of the language games leaves us jumping with joy,” wrote the German Foundation Reading back then. It was also featured in the German App Store. To verify that the app meets the needs and wishes of its young users, Linguino held several workshops with children volunteering to test the app during the past few months. Now re-launching it on an international level, the new, gamified version fulfils its #LanguageFun mantra even better than its predecessor – and this time in both German and English. And again, Monsters Behave! is featured in the App Store.

“The success in Germany and our subsequent workshops showed us that our product hit a nerve, that children and parents are sharing our vision of fun education,“ says Johannes. “It is our mission to create products that satisfy this wish and make children laugh while they learn.”

Monsters Behave! is now available for USD 1.99 / GBP 1,49 in the App Store and abstains from any in-app purchases. For more information, please visit their website at http://www.monstersbehave.com.
