NYPA Selects ENERActive Solutions as a Contractor Under Build Smart NY Program
Following the approval of the increased funding of $117 million in support of Build Smart NY, New York Power Authority (NYPA) authorized the award of contracts to twelve firms, including ENERActive Solutions, to implement the Statewide Energy Efficiency Program (Statewide EEP). Build Smart NY, in conjunction with Governor Andrew Cuomo's Executive Order 88, plans to reduce the energy consumption of state facilities by 20% by April 2020.
New York, NY, October 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The New York Power Authority (NYPA) Board of Trustees had a meeting on Wednesday, October 15th, in which they approved increased energy efficiency funding of $117 million in support of the Build Smart NY Program, as well as authorized the award of contracts to twelve firms, seven of which are located in New York State, to provide Audit, Energy Master Planning, Retro Commissioning, Design, Engineering, Construction and Construction Trade Management services, including the procurement of equipment and installation labor, operation and maintenance and other related energy efficiency or sustainability services – ENERActive Solutions being one of the awarded firms.
With the support of the increased funding, NYPA has aggregated an additional $300 million in contracts to be distributed to the twelve awarded firms. As one of the firms selected to provide energy efficiency services, Eneractive will be contracted by NYPA for their Construction Management Services, for a period of five years. While Eneractive is new to the Statewide Energy Efficiency Program (Statewide EEP), the Eneractive Team currently serves as NYPA’s Statewide Energy Services Contractor for audits and retro-commissioning services to support the GC EEP for the SENY service territory. Having recently completed projects for NYC’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services and the MTA’s Long Island Railroad Headquarters, Eneractive's expertise and familiarity with NYPA procedures and the expected deliverables of the EEP will contribute greatly to the advancement and attainment of NYPA’s energy goals.
Under the Build Smart NY Program, Eneractive will be working regionally within the New York City Suburbs – Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan, and Ulster counties. NYPA’s Build Smart NY Program, which will be implemented in conjunction with New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Executive Order 88, plans to reduce the energy consumption of state facilities by 20% by April 2020. Executive Order 88 requires compliance from all New York State facilities which fall under executive order of the Governor, and through Build Smart NY, these facilities will be subsidized in order to initiate cost-effective energy improvements. Since it’s issuance in 2012, Build Smart NY has achieved more than 25% of Gov. Cuomo’s energy reduction goal, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 130,000 tons per year.
