North Carolina Leaders to Launch New Economic Development Platform Promoting State's Global Leadership in Ag Biotech
North Carolina's Secretary of Commerce Sharon Allred Decker and Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler to unveil state's new name for ag biotechnology at press conference and launch event, Wednesday, November 5.
Durham, NC, October 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- On Wednesday, November 5th, North Carolina Secretary of Commerce Sharon Allred Decker, North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler, and global agricultural biotech leaders with facilities or headquarters in North Carolina, will launch a new economic development platform promoting the state as the global leader in agricultural biotechnology. This new platform will highlight North Carolina’s diversity in agricultural offerings, access to world-class assets and talent, resources and partnerships, customized workforce readiness programs, and proven process to accelerate industry and research engagement in the world’s fastest growing ag biotech cluster – North Carolina.
According to Doug Edgeton, President and CEO of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, "There are over 80 agricultural biotech companies across the state, employing more than 8,200 workers, making North Carolina the global hub for agricultural biotechnology. For more than 30 years, our state has been recruiting and supporting industry partners, nurturing the roots they need to efficiently grow, develop and launch solutions to meet global challenges.
