Working Mum’s Company Wins Service Business of the Year Award
London, United Kingdom, November 03, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Working mum Alexandra Kelly proved that you can juggle both family and business when her company Powerchex won the Service Business of the Year Award at the national NatWest Startups Awards.
Mother of two and managing director Alexandra said, “Winning this award proves that anyone can do it, no matter what their situation. Starting a business and taking care of small children at home can be a challenge, but not impossible.”
Managing director (and mum) Alexandra started Powerchex (www.powerchex.co.uk) 3 years ago with two desks, one employee and a fax machine. Today, the company employs 26 people at its office in the City and has a client list that includes some of the nation’s biggest banks and financial companies.
Under the scrutiny of judges such as Martin Webb, host of channel 4’s Risking It All, Alexandra’s company Powerchex was selected for its fantastic customer service in providing a pre-employment screening service to City firms.
The judges were impressed that Powerchex had found a niche in a seemingly staid industry, offering an innovative time and cost saving solution to its clients. Judges praised the company’s commitment to quality service and “obliterating complacency” and it’s no satisfaction refund guarantee. The company has strong ethics, rewarding its staff well and investing in CSR. After being rejected by Dragons’ Den, Alexandra Kelly has bounced back to prove them wrong building a dynamic company with personality in a sector that isn’t known for it.
The awards ceremony was held at the plush Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington and hosted by original Apprentice winner, Tim Cambell.
“It was fantastic to stand up in front of all those people and receive the award. It is moment that I’ll certainly share with my children for years to come”, says Alexandra.
