RedLand Strategies Appoints New Senior Vice President
Fast growing business development and crisis management firm strengthens resources
New York, NY, October 21, 2014 --(PR.com)-- RedLand Strategies (www.RedLandStrategies.com) President Michael Balboni announced today that former Deputy Commissioner of the NYS Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, Mr. James M. Sherry has joined his firm. Mr. Sherry comes with a wealth of experience having spent the last 23 years in both local and state government. As Senior Vice President, James Sherry will oversee the daily operations of the firm and assist in further developing RedLand’s growing portfolio of regional and national accounts.
Prior to his service as Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Sherry served as Acting Director for the Office of Homeland Security (OHS) after his time as Chief of Staff where he oversaw the office’s daily operations. In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Mr. Sherry served as Senior NYS Executive during response and relief efforts in the downstate area.
He also worked as Special Advisor for Public Safety for the Governor, where he assisted in overseeing the operations of 13 different agencies including the State Police, State Emergency Management Office, the Division of Military and Naval Affairs, the Office of Critical Infrastructure and Cyber Security, as well as the Division of Criminal Justice Services.
Prior to this, Mr. Sherry was the first Counsel to the NYS Senate Committee on Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs, wherein he proved instrumental in the development and passage of nearly every piece of major legislation affecting homeland security in New York.
Upon leaving office, Mr. Sherry was recognized by the New York National Guard for “exceptionally meritorious service,” and was awarded the Conspicuous Service Medal. In 2012, he graduated from the Center for Homeland Defense and Security’s Executive Leaders Program. He also continues to be a member of the Mineola Fire Department, which he joined, in 1988.
