Brooklyn, NY School Partners with WhizFish for New Mobile App
P.S. 115 administrators work with WhizFish to build a new mobile app to reach busy parents and staff on their phones and tablets.
New York, NY, October 23, 2014 --(PR.com)-- P.S. 115 The Daniel Mucatel School in Brooklyn, NY launched a smartphone-tablet app that allows school administrators to communicate with parents, staff and students directly on their smartphones and tablet devices sharing alerts, schedules, school news feeds, contact numbers and more. The new apps, published in the iTunes App Store and Google Play, will give parents the convenience of communicating with the school from their mobile device.
P.S. 115 Principal, Loren Borgese, spearheaded the project as a "fool-proof" way to reach parents on their phones and tablets. She included the features that help make it easy for parents to interact with the school. Parent Coordinator, Jayne Sclavos, and Intervention Specialist Jennifer Troman, further directed the mobile app development for her school. The P.S. 115 Team interfaced with the design and development team to produce this app that is fundamentally changing the way schools communicate.
The app can be seen in the iTunes App Store or Google Play by searching for P.S. 115 The Daniel Mucatel School.
Mobile apps are being adopted quickly by schools with thousands using them now to engage parents who grew up on the web and expect communication to be convenient and available on the devices they use most, smartphones and tablets. Schools that have adopted mobile apps are beginning to see greater involvement from parents and even grandparents and increased school loyalty.
The NYC Department of Education principals who are adopting mobile apps for their schools, see this as the most direct way to engage parents, staff and the community. The apps feature convenience functions that allow parents to reach the schools very easily.
The mobile app for P.S. 115 was developed by WhizFish, an interactive agency in Toledo, Ohio. The company develops apps for individual schools and entire school districts both public and private
The New York City Department of Education is the largest school district in the U.S., serving 1.1 million students in over 1,800 schools.
