Storage Made Easy Introduce Linux App Updates for Their Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution
Storage Made Easy are please to announce updates to their Linux Apps for their Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution: The updates focus on security, performance and feature updates.
London, United Kingdom, October 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As part of the suite of Linux Apps SME provide a Linux ‘Cloud’ Drive that makes Cloud Files accessible directly from a desktop mount using FUSE (File System in UserSpace). In this release the Cloud Drive App has been updated with support for encryption. The Storage Made Easy Enterprise solution supports private encryption of files as part of the underlying Cloud Control Gateway that is part of the SME Enterprise File Share and Sync Solution.
TLS (Transport Layer Security) and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) are protocols that provide data encryption and authentication between applications and servers in scenarios where that data is being sent across an insecure network. For strengthened security the SME Linux Apps will now only use the TLS protocol for HTTPS requests. This improvement has been made due to the recent SSL3 reported ‘poodle’ breach.
Another part of the suite of Linux tools is the desktop Sync Center which can sync folders and files for offline use. In this release the Sync Center performance has been optimised and CPU usage has been improved. Users who have many files will find the Sync Center will sync files/folders two times faster than previously.
The Storage Made Easy Enterprise Sync Solution supports every desktop Operating System, Mac Windows and Linux, and SME is one of the few EFSS vendors to support a Linux solution.
Storage Made Easy currently supports more than 45 private and public data clouds such a Amazon S3, OpenStack, EMC Atmos, Cloudian and CleverSafe. SME also covers every mobile Operating System inclusive of iOS, Android Windows Phone, Windows Tablet, and BlackBerry (both OS versions).
Jim Liddle, Storage Made Easy CEO said, “We have supported Linux from the first incarnation of our service and it is important to many of our Enterprise customers. We will continue the support and look forward to providing further feature enhancement, optimisations and support for further distros.”
About Storage Made Easy (SME):
Storage Made Easy is the trading name of Vehera LTD who has offices in the UK, USA and Switzerland. The SME solution allows IT to regain control of “cloud data sprawl” by unifying private/public company data and privately used employee cloud data solutions into a single converged infrastructure.
This can easily be managed and be used to set and enforce governance and audit controls for file access and sharing in addition to providing deep content search of indexed data. This approach provided a solution to the “shadow IT” conundrum and makes it possible for companies to find a balance between the protection of corporate data and employee data by allowing businesses to monitor, secure and audit all data silos, be they private or cloud or company or employee, from a single access point.
