Resort Travel & Xchange Supports Local Community Initiatives
Orlando, FL, October 30, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Resort Travel & Xchange recently participated in four community initiatives in Asheville, NC.
Resort Travel & Xchange (RTX), a leader in the timeshare and vacation ownership exchange industry, recently participated in four local community events in Asheville, North Carolina - the Color Run which took place on July 26th, the Tools for Schools fundraiser which took place on August 13th, the Day of Caring event which took place on September 11th and, the Coats for the Cold drive which takes place throughout the month of October.
RTX promotes and advocates wellness through a number of company-wide initiatives including their involvement in the Color Run event, which is the single largest event series in the United States. The nationwide 5K run is committed to bringing communities together to support health, happiness and individuality. RTX organized a fundraiser within the company to pay for shirts and put together a team of 15 employees to participate in the Color Run along with nearly 7,000 other runners. To date, the Color Run has donated more than $3 million to numerous local and national charities such as the Asheville YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, and the Maui United Way.
“Ours all finished within minutes of one another. A lot of people ran more than they thought they would because they were running with their coworkers and teammates. It was a great team building experience for everyone who participated,” says Sara Little, Director of Communications at RTX.
Tools for Schools is a timely back to school fundraiser that provides school supplies to students and families in the Asheville, North Carolina area. It’s a one-day event that is open to the public, where students and families in need can pick up school supplies. Well-known companies including Ingles Markets, Eblen Charities and Clear Channel Radio sponsored the event. RTX employees chose to support this fundraiser and contributed over 50 school supplies.
“When deciding on a cause for employees to donate to in this quarter, helping out local school children through Tools for Schools was an easy decision,” says Little. “Several of our employees have their own kids in school or are close to school age and know that there are a lot of families in the community that will benefit from these school supplies. Knowing that we can help students succeed even a little bit in a time when school budgets are so tight and families in our area are in need is important to all of us at RTX.”
The Day of Caring event is sponsored by Hands On Asheville-Buncombe and the United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County. Day of Caring allows volunteers to help nonprofit organizations, schools and other public entities with specific projects. This year RTX employees teamed up to take shifts sorting and processing clothing and reorganizing rooms at the Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry’s (ABCCM) thrift store. The ABCCM is a local nonprofit organization that is actively helping those in the community who are homeless or living in poverty.
The month long Coats for the Cold drive is a fundraiser that RTX has participated in for the third year in a row. Each year RTX employees have donated warm clothing to help the less fortunate. The annual coat drive has partnered with Western Carolina Rescue Ministries in Asheville for the past 10 years to provide coats to the poor and homeless who can’t afford appropriate winter attire. Last year this event helped supply women and children in need with over 600 warm clothing items.
“Day of Caring was a positive and humbling experience for all those who volunteered. We were able to work together to make a tangible difference for an organization that does so much good in our community,” said Little. “Similarly, the warm clothing drive is a way for us to help the WNC Rescue Ministries in their outreach to those in need in our community during the cold months. It’s heartwarming to see how many of our employees are eager to participate in events like these.”
Now with over 80,000 members, RTX offers a risk free exchange program that allows members to confirm a suitable exchange before giving up access to their own allocated accommodation. As the company continues to see rapid growth, it’s commitment to giving back to its community and other philanthropic projects remains a priority amongst its management team and employees.
