CrescoCap Joins the Mississippi Million Challenge
In the latest sporting challenge to build awareness for the organisation Right To Play, Derek Mayne from Cresco Capital Management (UK) Ltd participated in both fund raising and picking up oars as part of the team that rowed down the Mississippi.
London, United Kingdom, November 05, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The challenge was the idea of John Pritchard a former Cambridge Blue Rower and Olympic Medallist, who put together a team that would attempt to row the entire length of the mighty Mississippi in a Victorian skiff to raise $1m for children in disadvantaged communities around the world. John with a team of inspired philanthropists and supporters, began the Mississippi Million Challenge on August 2 in Lake Itasca, MN, which would take them 86 days to travel 2,320 miles across 10 states before finishing in New Orleans. A number of experienced rowers joined John over the full challenge, as supporters helped to complete stages of the journey all the way to the finish line. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Derek met the team at St. Francisville, LA and rowed with them over the final 100 miles to New Orleans.
The Mississippi Million Challenge was inspired by a little boy from Ghana named Richmond whom John met while visiting Right To Play programs at the Three Kings School for children with learning and physical disabilities.
