NAPO-NY: Organizing the Heart of the Home: The Holiday Kitchen
New York, NY, November 06, 2014 --(PR.com)-- With autumn in the air, now is a good time to undertake organizing your “holiday kitchen.” Preparing for the upcoming hub of activity that takes place in kitchens during the season ensures a more relaxed and enjoyable time for you and your guests. “Often clients call in professional organizers when they are already overwhelmed by the holiday season. Simply taking the time to organize and plan before the holidays begin can help you feel more in control and less stressed,” stated Collette Shine, NAPO-NY President.
· De-clutter and clean: The first step to an organized kitchen is to clear piles that have accumulated on countertops. Create more counter space by storing appliances that are used infrequently. After you de-clutter, give your kitchen a through cleaning. Do a seasonal switch in your pantry just as you do in your closet by packing up summer items and storing them on a top shelf. This frees up space to make your holiday cooking and baking supplies more accessible. Create room in your refrigerator and freezer for holiday goodies by giving it a good cleaning and tossing expired food.
· Make lists and stock up: Now is the time to get holiday foods and essentials, especially dry goods, on hand. Assemble a general list of holiday entertaining menus and stock your pantry with ingredients that can be stored. Remember to have extra beverages, alcohol, and snacks on hand. And, don’t forget to stock your pantry with ingredients for family-favorite recipes and baking essentials.
· Cook, bake, and have fun: Make some soups, stews or casseroles for your freezer. They come in handy when unexpected guests arrive, or you’re short on time. You can also make some baked goods for family or give as gifts.
The holidays are a time to enjoy friends and family. Organization is key to hosting a relaxed, successful gathering!
