Master student starts crowd funding campaign to help complete degree requirements.
Downers Grove, IL, November 07, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Master degree student starts crowd funding campaign to help complete degree requirements on November 5, 2014 in Downers Grove, Illinois via Kickstarter.
Beth Carey, a master’s degree student from Miami Ohio University, is participating in a degree program that does more than just give an education; it challenges students to think global and act local for conservation.
As part of her graduation requirements she is required to do a 'Master Plan' intended to make and ongoing impact in her community and around the world with a focus in sustainability, stewardship, conservation and environmental awareness tying in the coursework and experiences from the program. Each student’s Master Plan project is unique to the student and is based on their personal interests and passions.
With the inspiration from the program, Beth has developed a unique way to help connect people with conservation efforts. Her project is to create a custom, conservation themed, geocoin game pieces that will be used for conservation focused missions and activities to challenge the worldwide geocaching gaming community to complete.
Geocaching is a worldwide GPS inspired hide and seek game. Trackable game pieces typically have a travel centered mission and move from location to location however, but these coins will add a little something different to the geocaching game. These coins will travel from geocache to geocache challenging new adventurers to take part in simple but fun conservation centered tasks.
Beth believes that one person can truly make a difference in conservation efforts by helping engage others. She hopes that geocachers will continue these activities beyond the single mission.
The next step in the project is to get custom coins minted so Beth started a Kickstarter crowd funding page to kick off the efforts. You can help her reach her goal and connect others to her conservation missions by supporting and sharing her project.
The travel log of the coins (once minted) will be tracked online on www.geocaching.org
