Chicago, IL, November 15, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Ex Consultants’ Website Crowd Sources Answers to the Pregnancy Unknown
Former business consultants from top-tier strategy firm BCG are using their background in data analysis to demystify the pregnancy process. John Russ and Natasha McAnuff, both Stanford MBAs, launched Pregknowsis.com as a novel way to advance pregnancy advice from folk wisdom to reliable data. Recently, Pregknowsis.com released its findings from polls of ~1,000 users providing 3,000+ unique answers since launch 3 months ago. The report can be found here (http://www.pregknowsis.com/community/blog/48) for review, commentary, or publication. A Pregknowis.com Press Release can be found below.
Pregknowsis.com links user-supplied information with poll questions to create statistically significant answers for topics from time to conception to post-partum depression. Registered users ask and answer questions within the community via polls. They can then filter results based on demographic and lifestyle information, which is provided by all users at registration, to find answers which most closely mirror their own situation, called getting a “Pregknowsis.”
Fertility is a big problem in the US. According to Marketdata, Americans spent $3.5 billion on fertility treatments in 2012, with some recent estimates reaching as much as $5 billion. One in six couples struggle with infertility, approximately 15-30% of which cannot be medically explained. Typically, couples are instructed to try to conceive for at least 12 consecutive months before seeing a doctor, leaving many to seek alternative help in the interim. Once they see a doctor, options range from fertility drugs with varied side effects to invasive procedures. With low success and high cost, less than 25 percent of couples pursue fertility treatment.
“Fertility is different for every woman, but the process is difficult for many women and couples,” said co-founder Natasha McAnuff. “We want to help them improve their fertility odds by providing them with reliable and actionable information that can make a difference.”
