“There is a gap between the business world and the education system in our society,” said Rita DiStefano, Director of HR Consulting at PMP and Manufacturing Regional Industry Council’s Co-Chair for the Long Island STEM Hub. “The primary goal of Professional Development Day and LI STEM Hub is to fill that gap by increasing the interaction between industry and education. Professional Development Day included a panel of corporate executives whose expertise ranged from Human Resources, to Accounting/Finance, to Marketing, and Technology/Manufacturing. The agenda included discussions on global competition, workplace ethics, and building strong communication skills for business. HIA-LI and Career Smarts also played in intricate role in the organization of this event.

“We were thrilled that this event reached maximum capacity,” said Rita. “It was evident from the enthusiasm in the room that we are making strides in accomplishing our objectives.”
