Mary Helen Diegel, a Lifetime Member of America’s Registry of Outstanding Professionals Will be Honored with an Appearance in Times Square, New York City

Farmingdale, NY, January 10, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Mary Helen Diegel has been an Educator with the Livonia Public Schools since 1997 to the present. lpsholmes.ss5.sharpschool.com/cms/One.aspx She earned her B.A. with a Political Science major, an English minor and a Secondary Certificate in Social Sciences from Kalamazoo College. She earned her M.A. in Education at Cambridge College. She studied abroad at L’Universite de Caen, France where she undertook an intensive study of the French language, culture, history and art history. Ms. Diegel’s teaching experience includes Adjunct Professor at Madonna University, Midwest Trainer, Library of Congress: Teaching with Primary Sources and Teacher at the American International School, Johannesburg, South Africa. She has numerous awards and commendations to her credit including: Volleyball Coach of the Year 1998-99, LPS-AISJ South African Exchange Program Participant, Livonia Educational Association Spotlight Program, 2009-10 Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1519 Teacher of the Year, National Endowment for the Humanities Grant Recipient and Livonia’s Chamber of Commerce Awards and Leadership Celebration Honoree to name a few. Ms. Diegel is affiliated with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Council for Social Studies, the Michigan Council for Social Studies and the Michigan Council for History Education. She is also affiliated with the International Society for Technology in Education, NACDA and TechinEDU (Technology in Education). Her area of expertise lies in professional development. She has developed expertise in identifying and implementing primary source materials, Formative Assessment and hands-on training for classroom teachers. Among her various activities have been playing Varsity Volleyball (4 years), MIAA Champions (3 years),Varsity Basketball (4 years) and Captain of Varsity Softball (1year).

The Times Square honor is of particular significance because of the high visibility it offers. It will be shown at regular intervals on two monitors attached to the landmark skyscraper at 3 Times Square, #1, New York, NY 10036. This structure is situated in what could be considered the busiest area of Manhattan. America’s Registry is pleased to honor Mary Helen Diegel with this elite appearance.
