Racing Babies Take to the Starting Line in Santa to the Sea’s Second Annual Diaper Dash

Oxnard, CA, November 22, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Most races are for adults, some for kids – but this one is just for babies. In addition to its traditional race options of a half marathon, 5k and 1k, Santa to the Sea is continuing its newest race with the second annual Diaper Dash. The Diaper Dash race will take place Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Marine Emporium Landing, 3600 S. Harbor Blvd. Oxnard, the day before the actual Santa to the Sea race. The Diaper Dash is for babies under the age of one who love to crawl.

There will be seven races with five babies in each race. The race is being capped at 35 babies. The seven winners will advance to the championship. The course will be about ten feet long on a small stage inside the Finish Live Festival and Race Expo tent. Coaches stand at each end of the stage: one starts the baby off and the other cheers the baby to the finish line. The babies must crawl. Any standing or walking and the babies will be disqualified.

Santa to the Sea is a nonprofit event born out of a desire to give back to the community. What started in 2003 as a toy drive to celebrate the relocation of the world’s largest Santa Claus from Carpinteria to Oxnard, has grown into a robust running event, toy drive, and community fundraiser. Santa to the Sea includes a sanctioned half marathon and a 2-person half marathon relay, plus a 5K run, 1K kids fun run, Finish Line Festival and Race Expo. The Santa to the Sea Scholarship Fund partners with the Oxnard College Foundation and the Gene Haas Foundation to award $500 scholarships to local high school students and adults continuing their education at Oxnard College.
