Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce Looks Ahead to 2015
The Morton Grove Chamber's Board of Directors has streamlined the organization by adopting a new set of bylaws and is planning to provide the local business community with new ways of promoting trade, industry and the public good in the new year.
Morton Grove, IL, November 24, 2014 --(PR.com)-- After several months of review and transition, the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Board of Directors has streamlined the organization by adopting a new set bylaws based on its long history and has created a new calendar of events with programs that will presented in 2015 designed to enhance the promotion of local businesses in Morton Grove.
In recognizing the current trends of commerce, the Chamber has been planning to meet the challenges of the shop online/cyber commerce economy and how it effects local businesses. The Board during their planning meetings had determined that success for its business community in the village depends not as much on national cyber customers, but mostly with the people who live around the corner from those shops, restaurants, stores, galleries, service stations, dealerships, offices and organizations in Morton Grove.
The President of the Chamber, Jeannine Como, stated "We have taken a long and hard look at who we are and what we can best provide to the community" who further went on to say "For 2015 and looking forward, the Morton Grove Chamber of Commerce must be a valued partner with our local commercial and civic organizations to thrive in today’s competitive business environment."
One of the directions for this future vision were recently found in the Chamber’s past. The Board of Directors’ task of streamlining the organization resulted in a new set of bylaws based on the version in effect back in 1936, first written in 1926. Their new bylaws are straight-forward and focused on an achievable vision to “promote trade, industry and the public good” as stated in the newly adopted guidelines.
"The Chamber is once again looking at what’s best and unique about Morton Grove and will be moving the organization along a path that is a custom fit for our community," stated Mark Albers, the Chamber's Marketing Committee Co-Chair who helped draft the bylaws, who further added "The old motto from the little vintage bylaws booklet said it best, Ever Onward, which is a perfect slogan for a community that is proud of its past, but will be focusing on the future!"
The Chamber provided a short list of reasons why local companies should consider not only joining, but actively participating in the Chamber:
• Recognition – People still like to do business with those they know
• Visibility – Web & social networking sites with printed directories
• Credibility – Makes sure prospects patronize those they can trust
• Advertising – Improved visibility with Chamber marketing efforts
• Networking – Opportunities to meet more prospective customers
• Advocacy – A stronger voice in support of local business interests
• Access – A link to the leaders in the community at many levels
• Development – Informative programs to share ideas about business
• Involvement – Being seen as a leader in the community
