Chicago, IL, December 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- As part of its ongoing effort to support volunteerism, Accretive Helping Hands recently hosted a “Fall Kickball Classic” in Chicago. The fun-filled charity event provided Accretive Health employees with an opportunity to enjoy an after-work activity in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, while raising money to support the programs at St. Joseph Services. Accretive Helping Hands is a not-for-profit charity organization that was founded by Accretive Health employees in 2012.
“Hundreds of residents in Chicago’s Austin and Humboldt Park neighborhoods have taken advantage of the after school, evening and weekend programs offered by St. Joseph Services,” said Ankit Shah, an Accretive Health employee who organized the event as part of Accretive Helping Hands. “We are proud to support their efforts.”
Accretive Health employees made donations to Accretive Helping Hands and formed teams with members of the St. Joseph Services staff and some of the Chicago families that rely on their services. In all, 41 participants joined the kickball game in and raised $1,100 on behalf of St. Joseph Services.
“St. Joseph Services’ work in Chicago’s neediest communities to strengthen and develop others is truly reflective of our own mission,” said Bhavna Deole, an Accretive Health employee who is a volunteer with Accretive Helping Hands.
About St. Joseph Services
St. Joseph Services was founded in 2001 by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul who have been serving the needs of the poor in the city of Chicago since 1861. Originally programs were located in the underserved communities of Humboldt Park and Austin, and have expanded to other Chicagoland communities. St. Joseph Services’ vision is that collaborations are the most cost effective way to help more people. Currently partnering with St. Angela School, Josephinum Academy, Resurrection Parish, St. Aloysius Parish and other community partners, they now offer a range of educational programs for the youth and families of the communities they serve and engage a large corps of talented volunteers for direct service.
