CANTER Colorado is the First CANTER USA Affiliate to be Verified by Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries
Centennial, CO, December 09, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS), the only globally recognized organization providing standards for identifying legitimate animal sanctuaries, awarded Verified status to CANTER Colorado as of December 1, 2014.
Verification means that CANTER Colorado meets the criteria of a true equine sanctuary/rescue and is providing humane and responsible care of the animals. To be awarded Verified status, an organization must meet GFAS’s rigorous and peer-reviewed animal care standards which are confirmed by a site visit and they must also adhere to a demanding set of ethical and operational principles. The verification status also provides a clear and trusted means for the public, donors and grantors to recognize CANTER Colorado as an exceptional organization.

Achieving this certification is not easy but CANTER Colorado was committed to modifying their policies and procedures ensuring that they provided the best possible care.”

CANTER Colorado is an all volunteer organization that helps retiring race horses find new starts after their racing career ends. In partnership with the local racetrack, Arapahoe Park, CANTER Colorado works with the horsemen and women at the track every week during the racing season, taking listings of horses from trainers on the backside in an effort to advertise available horses with prospective buyers.
