Designer & Plant Artist Launches Visionary Kickstarter Campaign
Designer & Entrepreneur Monique Capanelli Envisions Green Community Space & Garden Boutique for Austin, Texas. Her Kickstarter campaign is off to a fast start with support from residents hungry for her unique design products and DIY workshops.
Austin, TX, December 13, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Articulture Designs launched a Kickstarter campaign (running through January 14) to raise funds to secure property for a garden boutique, design studio, and community space for classes, workshops, and group activities. The project video, full story, and images of supporter rewards can be found at: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/art-is-alive/art-is-alive-with-articulture-designs.
Kickstarter gives power to everyday people (as opposed to career investors and financial institutions) to help startups and entrepreneurs succeed. In its first week, Articulture’s “Art Is Alive” campaign has already reached a quarter of its goal, largely due to an existing base of Articulture followers. Now comes the challenge to receive support from new audiences.
Supporters can claim rewards for backing the project that range from mini living walls to DIY terrarium kits, or premium options like Living Furniture pieces or a personal landscape or interior design consultation.
Known for her vertical “living walls,” founder Monique Capanelli has steered Articulture to great success with residential and commercial clients, such as Whole Foods Market, The Four Seasons Residences, and the Shake Shack now under construction in Austin.
“The problem is there’s so much that we can’t do and so many people that we can’t serve working out of our little home,” Capanelli explains. “I’ve always had a much bigger vision.”
Capanelli has hosted Articulture workshops at her home studio, as well as in collaboration with the Umlauf Sculpture Garden. Part of her bigger vision is to curate a regular series of hands-on educational and entertaining workshops related to plant design, gardening, and sustainability.
Kickstarter, which is the largest of the crowdfunding platforms, has an “all or nothing” model. A campaign must reach its goal in time entirely or it receives none of the pledges made. Because of this, and also because Articulture’s project is unusual within the Kickstarter world, Capanelli set a modest goal of $12,000. But if you know anything about commercial property or expanding a business in Austin, you know that’s nowhere near enough.
“I’ve chalked up a lot of cactus scars while getting us most of the way toward our vision,” Capanelli jokes. “I’m looking for the final push with the help of this Kickstarter campaign. And I’m hopeful that we’ll exceed our goal.”
