The Select Group Backed Interact at Elf Party
Employees volunteered at non-profit to support those affected by domestic violence.
Raleigh, NC, December 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- The Select Group (TSG) Raleigh branch gave back to the community by participating in InterAct’s annual Elf Party. Interact is a private, non-profit United Way agency that provides safety, support and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
The Elf Party is a volunteer set-up event that takes place prior to InterAct’s Holiday Bazaar. TSG’s team acted as “elves,” helping Interact prepare by organizing gifts, setting up wrapping stations, and decorating. The team also donated snacks for other volunteers and gifts for the Holiday Bazaar.
The Holiday Bazaar, which was held on Saturday, December 13th, is an event that aids families in rebuilding their lives after leaving an abusive environment. During the Holiday Bazaar, the Interact agency is transformed into a store, where mothers may “shop” to choose gifts for their children and vice versa.
Lauren Chriscoe, Corporate Recruiter and community service committee member, commented, “I absolutely love working for an organization that actively gives back to those in need. We were honored to lend a helping hand to such an awesome organization. Domestic violence effects 1 in every 3 women in the United States. We hope to partner with InterAct again in the near future as their support for the community and victims is not just during the holidays, but 365 days of the year.”
TSG encourages employees to volunteer in philanthropic events that resonate with them. Recently, TSG formed an internal community service committee with 1-2 members in each branch. Each branch is encouraged to participate in a community service event quarterly. The members of the committee work with fellow employees to select and organize an event. As a benefit, TSG offers an additional eight hours of paid time off to any employee who completes at least eight hours of selfless service each year.
