Career Step Announces Winner of 2014 Military Scholarship
Career Step is proud to announce that the winner of its 2014 Military Service Member and Spouse scholarship is James Schols, Technical Sergeant in the Oregon Air National Guard.
Provo, UT, December 17, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Career Step, an online provider of career-focused education and corporate training, is proud to announce that the winner of its 2014 Military Service Member and Spouse scholarship is James Schols, Technical Sergeant in the Oregon Air National Guard. Mr. Schols will receive $2,000 toward the pursuit of higher education, which he will be applying toward a Master’s of Business Administration at Brandman University.
“My wife and I discussed the cost of college tuition and decided that our family could not afford to fund my higher education goals this year,” said Mr. Schols. “A few days later, my wife sent me a link to Career Step’s Military Service Member and Spouse scholarship. I applied immediately. Career Step’s participation in the MyCAA program had previously supported my wife’s goal of working from home in the medical transcription program while I was deployed, and the school is now supporting my educational goals through their scholarship. However, the greatest impact Career Step has had on our family is the hope and encouragement they have given us to pursue our dreams.”
Mr. Schols was selected through a lengthy review process from among numerous applicants. He is currently finishing a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies and will begin his master’s studies upon graduation. The Schols family had previously become familiar with Career Step about five years ago, when Mr. Schols’ wife took Career Step’s Medical Transcription program during his deployment to Afghanistan.
“Our mission at Career Step centers around changing lives through education,” said Career Step CEO Steve Tober. “This scholarship program allows us to take that commitment beyond our own programs. Whether you take one of our programs or pursue your training through another quality institution, we believe education makes a significant difference. We are honored to be awarding this scholarship to Mr. Schols and wish him the best as he continues his education, which will enable him to better provide for his family.”
Career Step established its military scholarship as a way to support education on a broader level and further give back to the military community. The school has developed especially close ties to the military community through its participation in programs like MyCAA and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, and Career Step is continually looking for new ways to support those who sacrifice in support of the country.
Career Step offers a number of scholarship awards, including one for mothers returning to school and an award specifically for graduating high school seniors in Career Step’s home state of Utah. More information is available and applications can be submitted at CareerStep.com/scholarships.
