New Game Development Studio Beanbag Studios Established by Industry Veterans with Eye on $2billion Marketplace
Beanbag Studios is established to delivery high-end casual games designed and developed by top tier development teams. Beanbag Studios is poised to become a major player in the $2billion casual game industry that is outselling the hard-core gaming market. Casual games players are roughly 70% ladies ages 30 to 65. Beanbag will raise the bar in production values and hours of gameplay.
Plano, TX, November 10, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Two game development veterans today announced the formation of privately-owned Beanbag Studios, Inc., a new company poised to raise the bar for the design and production of high quality casual games.
The founders at Beanbag Studios include longtime videogame industry veterans Steve Bergenholtz and Gary Corriveau, two individuals with a combined 30 years of development experience. In 1998, Bergenholtz founded Sandbox Studios, where a team of close to 70 talented staff members developed numerous hit games for consoles and handheld devices, including the hit Xbox launch title, Shrek, The Emperor's New Groove, Disney's Dinosaur, ESPN NHL Hockey, Matchbox Emergency Patrol and many other titles based on well-known properties from Disney, DreamWorks, Mattel and others. In 2001, Bergenholtz sold Sandbox Studios, which is now a part of Electronic Arts.
With its business offices in Plano, Texas and development studio in London, Ontario, Canada, Beanbag has acquired a number of global videogame licenses and has multiple casual games in production for release this year.
"Our developers are working with several high profile properties, which will allow us to hit the ground running with a series of impressive launch games," Bergenholtz said. "We're looking forward to releasing a range of first-rate titles for the growing number of casual game fans around the world."
Beanbag anticipates completing over 20 original and licensed titles at its internal studio through 2008 while continuing to grow its development capacity to include cell phone and console titles. In addition, the company is seeking a partnership deal to assist with the distribution of its games and is open to investment opportunities. Information on Beanbag's first titles will be announced shortly.
