Miami, FL, December 18, 2014 --(PR.com)-- Sherry Brody, artisanal entrepreneur, seeks alternative funding from Kickstarter.com to expand her line of natural dog treats. With two weeks left in the campaign, she is seeking crowd-funding support for a brand that includes packaged goods and an online information portal.
Former New York and Boston based Ad Exec is turning to the internet to raise capital for her latest project – one very close to her heart as she joins the legions of Gen X’ers starting new careers and becoming an entrepreneur in her 40’s.
After graduating from the University of Florida and working in the fast paced world of advertising and marketing for over 20 years for companies like Miramax Films, Calvin Klein, Arnold Worldwide and Edelman Public Relations, Sherry Brody has taken the brave step of becoming a mid-life entrepreneur and following her passion and love for dogs.
The company and brand is based on allowing dogs to live the same healthy lifestyle that their human “parents” do. This means nutritional and natural food and snacks that can improve their health and vitality. Brody believes, “dogs are part of our families and most dog owners would do anything possible to extend their lives and have them share our same active and happy habits.” Paying forward and giving back is also a key brand philosophy so Licks n’ Love partners with various rescue organizations in New York, Boston and South Florida by donating time, products and a percentage of profits.
In line with Kickstarter.com guidelines, projects have a set number of days to raise all the funds, or the project receives nothing. Brody’s campaign has a 21-day fundraising window, from start to finish. If the allotted budget isn't raised before December 30th, all pledges are cancelled and the project will not be funded.
Brody has been selling the gourmet treats online and at various South Florida Greenmarkets but looking to expand the line and get into retail stores in 2015. This is where the funding comes in; money is needed for nutritional counseling, testing, certification and legal fees. “It’s a completely different lifestyle and schedule for me, but I’m loving the opportunity to work for myself and create something that really matters. I couldn’t go back to the grind of an office any longer.”
If successfully funded, the brand hopes to be in natural food and pet shops in 2015.
