Boston, MA, January 03, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Mayor Martin J. Walsh has declared January 4, 2015, World Hypnosis Day in Boston. This event, celebrated in over 22 countries, promotes the benefits and truth of hypnotism. Hypnotists generally hold presentations extending into January to inform the public of issues successfully resolved by hypnotism. Besides the familiar stress management, weight loss, and smoking cessation programs, other uses include some medical conditions, law enforcement, fears such as test-taking, flying and spiders. It also is used for stage fright and to enhance other performances including athletic skills. World Hypnotism Day was started a decade ago by Tom Nicoli, a hypnotist known for his appearance on NBC’s Dateline Ultimate Diet Challenge in which hypnotism proved to be the most successful weight loss method.
“We experience hypnotic states many times daily,” says Rhonda Waters, PhD, CEO of Boston’s Mutare Hypnosis, “such as when we are driving, watching a good movie, or listening to a dull lecture.” She continues, “so hypnosis is a more direct guided form of the hypnotic state to naturally achieve specific goals. Hypnotism is now a separate and distinct profession. Hypnotists belonging to the National Guild of Hypnotists abide by the Guild’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, and can also be members of NFH Local 104 OPEIU, AFL-CIO/CLC.
Mutare Hypnosis will be presenting a 90-minute hypnosis introduction and stress management program in support of World Hypnotism Day on Tuesday evening, January 20, at 6:30pm, 485 Columbus Ave., Boston.
