Starting Hearts Appoints New Executive Director
Alan Himelfarb, long time resident of Eagle County, selected to lead non-profit.
Avon, CO, January 04, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Lynn Blake, Founder and President of Starting Hearts, a Colorado-based non-profit dedicated to saving lives through CPR/AED education and AED placement, announced today the appointment of Alan Himelfarb as the organization's new Executive Director.
Ms. Blake states, "We received an overwhelming response to the job opening and feel fortunate to have had such a rich pool of applicants. Alan embodies the spirit and drive upon which Starting Hearts was founded and will be a tremendous asset to the organization. We are confident that Alan’s experience, knowledge, and integrity are a great match for the work of Starting Hearts."
Ms. Blake continues, "Alan is a visionary leader who brings extensive experience in operational excellence, infrastructure development, systems and procedures, setting and attaining goals, strategic planning and much more. He has been tasked to work with our Board of Directors to establish an organizational structure with clear protocols, steward important fundraising relationships and initiatives, build strong corporate and community partnerships, strengthen programs, and balance community need while developing plans for strategic national growth."
Mr. Himelfarb's career has spanned the for-profit and startup sectors. He has served in various capacities around the globe, and has worked with distinguished individuals and organizations such as Lee Iacocca of Ford, Robert Stempel of GM, and the Clinton Global Initiative. He holds a degree in Fine Arts from Prescott College, an MBA with honors from Regis University, and pursued doctoral work on sustainability at the Grenoble School of Management.
Mr. Himelfarb states, "I am honored to be chosen to lead Starting Hearts as its new Executive Director. I am very thankful to Lynn, the hiring committee, and all our dedicated board members for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this important cause.
"I lost my father at the too-early age of 57, due to heart failure. Had we the knowledge and a defibrillator then, we may well have saved him. When I think about the one thousand Americans who suffer this fate every day, I am all the more determined to teach more people, place more AED's, and make significant progress in saving more lives.
"What has been achieved in the past four years under Lynn's leadership is truly remarkable, and provides a strong foundation to advance our cause in the coming years. I dedicate myself to grow the organization, its capital base, its national and international reach, and the increasing total of lives positively affected by our efforts."

Starting Hearts is an Eagle County nonprofit dedicated to saving the lives of Sudden Cardiac Arrest victims in our community. We provide outreach and education to empower individuals to step in and assist while medical professionals are en route.
To save more lives in Eagle County, we provide three primary programs: Call-Push-Shock, which provides basic CPR training and AED use; Nearest AED, which is working to develop a broader network of the devices that play a critical role in the survival from SCA; and Neighbor Saver, which will connect willing volunteers trained in CPR and AED use with a nearby victim in need via the PulsePoint app.
