How Divorce and Presenteeism Decreases Productivity and Profits for Business

Relationship Coach Glenn Cohen of “I-TO-WE” Relationship Coaching will talk about the affect conflicted relationships and divorce have on presenteeism in the workplace and the impact it has on productivity and profits for corporate America.

Charleston, SC, November 12, 2007 --(PR.com)-- Charleston Relationship coach Glenn Cohen, founder of “I-TO-WE” Relationship coaching and the author of The Journey from “I-TO-WE” will be speaking at the Medical University of South Carolina conference, Presenteeism: “Are Your Employees Clocked in But Checked Out, ” on Wednesday, November 14, 2007. The conference will be held from 8:00 am until 4:15 pm at the MUSC Institute of Psychiatry Auditorium.

His presentation is titled, “Is Conflict at Home Affecting Your Job Performance.” Cohen will present the recent research on how employees who have personal relationship distress at home and suffer through divorce negatively impact corporate productivity and profits. He will discuss how companies can minimize the costly impact that Presenteeism has on the bottom line.

Cohen says “When an employee has conflict at home, they are not present, productive and positive at work. Corporate America is just now beginning to realize that they have to take a proactive role in establishing Relationship Wellness Pograms to address these issues.”

“When companies provide these types of resources for employees, they will achieve two benefits. First, the employee will be more productive, present and positive on the job. Second, they will learn the skills and techniques to connect, communicate, compromise and properly deal with conflict resolution. If an employee can learn and master these at home, they will transfer the same skill sets into the workplace. They will have much better relationships with co-workers and customers,” Cohen says.

The conference is presented by the Medical University of South Carolina Employee Assistance Program & The Institute of Psychiatry Office of Community & Professional Education. Participants will learn how to deal with Presenteeism, the costly phenomenon of employees that are present at work but not fully engaged and productive.
