Illinois Graduate's Film Heading to Hollywood
Waukegan, IL, January 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Out of Range, a short film written, directed, and produced by Zion graduate, Berylanne Lynch, has been making its way to numerous screenings. In October, the film opened at Chicago Filmmakers and screened at the Catlow Theatre Local Shorts Film Festival in Barrington. The short film has obtained countless views online. Now, Out of Range is making its way to Hollywood, California.
Out of Range is a new short film that is about a college student that experiences a powerful coincidence that changes her life. The short film depicts the controversial subject matter of gun violence, with a portrayal of good usage of guns versus bad usage of guns. The film was shot during the summer of 2014 in Chicago and parts of Lake County, including Salem Foods Mart in Zion, IL and Miggy Smalls Sports Bar in Waukegan, IL.
Out of Range will premiere at the 21st Annual African-American Film Marketplace S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase on January 17th and January 18th, 2015 at Raleigh Studios in the West Hollywood district of Los Angeles. The movie will be shown among fifty-two other short films as well.
Lynch states, “I’m very excited that Out of Range has been selected at multiple film festivals and screenings. I think the movie is relevant at this time. With all the protesting and conflicts going on with the Eric Garner, Mike Brown, and Trayvon Martin cases, I think it’s sometimes best to look at how guns are used; either for their righteous purpose or unlawfully. Sometimes those in service may abuse and misuse their power, especially when it comes to guns. Although Out of Range is not about officers abusing their power, it does depict how anyone can use a gun for protection or criminally.”
The young director has submitted the movie to other upcoming film festivals including the Atlanta Film Festival and several festivals in Chicago. Lynch concludes, “I’m really happy the film will be screening in Los Angeles, I’m glad it made it this far. It’s an exciting feeling to have your work seen in front of many audiences. All you have to do is stay focused and determined, and your project will be as successful as you make it.”
Out of Range features lead actress, Melanie Loren and lead actor, Rhashad Washington of Chicago.
The film is distributed through Lynch’s production business, B-Anne Productions. To learn more and watch Out of Range, please visit www.outofrangeshortfilm.com. The movie can be found on Facebook at www.facebook.com/outofrangeshortfilm.
