Brazoria County Successfully Launches Use of Electronic Pollbooks
Brazoria County, TX adopts the AskED ePollbook to save voters time and taxpayers money in 2015 and 2016.
Wheaton, IL, January 28, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Brazoria County, Texas successfully implemented new electronic pollbooks (ePollbooks) to improve service to voters during the recent November 4th General Election. The ePollbooks will be a key component as Brazoria County Elections Department plans for future elections.
The new electronic poll books from Robis Elections allow Brazoria County poll workers to easily and efficiently check in voters. Brazoria County currently has more than 182,000 registered voters and 68 precincts.
“We want to make sure each of our registered voters have a positive voting experience. With this technology, we anticipate an improved voter eligibility process, a reduction in voter check-in times and faster processing of records after the election. This means better use of staff time and resources for improved efficiency,” emphasizes Janice Evans, Director of Elections at Brazoria County.
The county’s solution is designed for the non-technical user with large text and oversized buttons. Each screen in the AskED® ePollbook guides poll workers step-by step like a GPS navigation system. Robis Elections provided Brazoria County with pre-configured all-in-one cases to make set up and the check-in process most efficient. Each case contains a touch screen laptop, scanner and label printer (to print out ballot receipts and directions to correct polling locations). The poll worker simply unzips the case and plugs in the power cord for setup.
“We are very pleased with the new AskED ePollbook and with the support we have received from Robis Elections. I’m really excited about the electronic poll book, especially as we head into 2015 and plan for the 2016 presidential election. This technology promises to save voters time and taxpayers money,” explains Brazoria County Clerk Joyce Hudman.
David Davoust, President of Robis Elections commented, “It’s a pleasure to support Brazoria County in their work to conduct fair and open elections. I’m impressed with Brazoria’s enthusiasm and diligence around elections and their implementation of the AskED ePollbook,” he continues, “We look forward to working with the County’s Elections Team to continue to improve the voter experience.”
