New Nocturnal Enuresis (Bedwetting) CME Activity Launched on epgonline.org

London, United Kingdom, January 29, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Launching today on epgonline.org - the website for healthcare professionals (HCPs), is a new online Continuing Medical Education (CME) activity on the topic of Bedwetting. Intended for an audience of Urologists, Paediatricians, Primary Care Providers and General Practitioners based in Europe, the free CME activity has been developed to raise HCPs’ awareness and understanding of the medical condition also known as nocturnal enuresis. It can be accessed at http://www.epgonline.org/bedwetting/CME.

Nocturnal enuresis is a common condition that can have a profound impact on the affected children and their families.1-4 It is often misconceived as being a benign condition that happens because affected children drink too much in the evening and sleep very deeply. In the past it was generally accepted that psychological problems were at its root and that children would eventually outgrow the condition.5 The Bedwetting CME and accompanying educational pages within the Bedwetting Knowledge Centre intend to address this misconception by educating healthcare professionals on how to correctly diagnose, treat and manage the condition.

The Bedwetting CME activity is free to access for registered users of epgonline.org. Qualified HCPs globally can register on the website for free to receive unrestricted access to a wealth of medical content, organised by medical specialty. The CME is located within the Bedwetting Knowledge Centre (http://www.epgonline.org/bedwetting), providing a valuable resource for medical professionals looking to enhance their knowledge of this frequently misunderstood medical condition.

The activity consists of three case study-based modules. Modules one and two assess the symptoms and focus on the best practice management of nocturnal enuresis. The third module provides a detailed scenario for more severe and complex cases that do not respond to standard treatment and management of the condition. Modules can be taken in any order and at the participant’s own pace. All case study material can be downloaded as PDFs, with certificates available after the successful completion of each module.

The Bedwetting CME has been made possible by an educational grant from Ferring Pharmaceuticals. Chris Cooper, Managing Director of EPG Health Media, the UK based company that publishes epgonline.org, says: “We believe that the new CME adds great value to the Bedwetting Knowledge Centre on epgonline.org. Thanks to welcome funding from one of our partners in healthcare, we can make the activity freely available to over half a million doctors and other medical professionals who regularly use the website, and in particular those interested in broadening their understanding of this often underestimated medical condition.”
