Zonta Trivia Night Raises Funds for Scholarships
Zonta Douglas County hosts Trivia Night to raise funds for local and regional nonprofits and for a lucky student heading off to college.
Castle Rock, CO, January 30, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Scholarships for high school seniors with public affairs majors are funded through Zonta Douglas County’s annual Trivia Fundraiser. The recipient of Zonta’s 2014 scholarship was Thunder Ridge High School graduate Kianna Nguyen, who is now a freshman at University of Colorado (CU) in Boulder.
In addition to a full class load her first semester, Nguyen was active in Engineers without Borders, the Rwanda team, and GlobeMed, an organization that partners with a healthcare providers in Nepal. This summer she is also looking into a program in Brazil, through CU, where she would develop her own independent research project and go down there to conduct it.
“It’s very rewarding to be able to help outstanding students like Kianna through our scholarship program,” says Rhonda Bolich-Lampo, president of Zonta Douglas County.
Zonta Douglas County hosts Trivia Night to raise funds for local and regional nonprofits and for a lucky student heading off to college. During the past 11 years, Zonta Douglas County has donated more than $70,000 to local charities, and gave more than $10,000 in scholarships to local high school seniors. Members donated more than 900 hours of time to local nonprofits last year alone.
Spots are available for teams of adults who want to participate in this year’s Trivia Event on April 11. Ed Greene, CBS4 Weather and News Anchor, will be the Master of Ceremonies for the second time for the event at Kirk Hall, Douglas County Fair Grounds in Castle Rock. The fundraising evening includes dinner, silent and live auctions, and eight rounds of trivia.
Greene, a Denver TV Newscaster for 33 years, is one of the most recognizable and involved TV personalities in the community. Viewers will find Greene on CBS4 newscasts at 5, 6 and 10 p.m. He also does weather for Denver’s KYGO radio.
Some of the sponsors for this year’s event include: Flying Horse Catering, HerLife magazine, Nesavich Properties, the North Fork Lazy H Ranch, and Staples of Highlands Ranch.
