YANMAR America Announces New Common Rail Pleasure Boat Engines

Adairsville, GA, January 31, 2015 --(PR.com)-- YANMAR America, a leader in the sailboat engine market, is pleased to announce the introduction of five new Tier 3 compliant engines designed for pleasure boats. These new engines are the first of their kind to offer direct injection common rail technology, which will lead to increased performance for boaters in the North and South American markets and worldwide.

Four of the new engines will be members of the JH family, the 4JH45, 4JH57, 4JH80 and 4JH110. These four engines will offer 45, 57, 80 and 110 mhp respectively with a rated speed of 3000 or 3200 rpm. The fifth engine, the 6BY3-160 will offer 160 mhp with a rated speed of 2800 rpm.

All five of the new engines utilize common rail injection technology, which allows for the amount of fuel, injection timing and how often it is injected to be controlled electronically with the engine mounted ECU (Engine Control Unit). The ECU will also give boat owners access to more information regarding their engine operation and fuel consumption, as well as an optional NMEA 2000 CAN bus gateway to display engine data on navigation screens. Other benefits of these engines include less noise, more power, little to no smoke, higher torque and increased fuel economy. Plus, these engines have the same foot print as previous engines, making them easy to install for both new boats and repowers.

The direct injection common rail technology is YANMAR’s solution to meeting the stringent EPA Tier 3 requirements for marine engines. Through this solution, particulate emissions are reduced by 40 percent and nitrogen oxide emissions are reduced by 20 percent. This means that boaters can enjoy legendary YANMAR reliability and improved performance while exceeding environmental regulations.
