Sandmeyer Steel Company Introduces Plasma Cut Beveled Edges
Philadelphia, PA, April 10, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Sandmeyer Steel Company has recently completed the installation of bevel head technology on one of three in-house plasma cutting machines. The computer controlled bevel head torch produces both knife edge and land edge bevels. The bevel head can be used to cut beveled edges on any number of shapes and configurations, from simple rectangular tank or vessel shells, to irregular shapes produced in a CAD program.
Customers can reduce downstream processing costs by requesting beveled edges as part of the first-step plate breakdown and sizing process. This can either eliminate the need for and cost of secondary beveling or reduce the cost of secondary beveling by greatly reducing the amount of material that must be subsequently removed. The process is especially applicable for fabrications that have butt welds or welds requiring filler metal.
The bevel head can cut both knife edge bevels and bevels with a land on Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy plate up to 1-1/2” thick, from 0 degrees to 45 degrees. Additionally, the software provides for any combination of beveled edges (positive and negative) and straight edges on the same part.
Sandmeyer Steel Company was founded in 1952 by the late Paul C Sandmeyer. Family owned and managed, the Company is recognized as a leading producer of Stainless Steel and Nickel Alloy plate products used in processing equipment for the chemical, wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, energy, food and beverage and high vacuum industries. The Company services customers throughout the world.
