Monthly Video Series Ask Hytrol Demonstrates How to Adjust Chain Tension on Drag Chain Conveyor

The current video is part of a monthly video series called “Ask Hytrol” focused on specific topics to help maintain conveyor systems and learn about new technologies.

In this video, the viewer learns how to adjust the chain tension on a drag chain conveyor. Following proper lock out/tag out procedures, the viewer is instructed to remove the chain guard and loosen the four bolts that fasten the takeup bracket to the bearing support side channels. To adjust the tension, turn the jackbolt clockwise to tighten or counterclockwise to loosen the chain. Note that the length of the unit will be a determining factor in the tension of the chain. For example, the chain may be quite loose on a longer unit.
