Author Publishes PG Edition of Popular Book “His PhD is in Hypocrisy and Other Poems about My Crappy Ex-Boyfriend”
Author, Tayo Oredein, releases a “PG” version of her book “His PhD is in Hypocrisy…And Other Poems about My Crappy Ex-Boyfriend” to reach younger audiences.
New York, NY, February 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Tayo Oredein, author of "His PhD is in Hypocrisy…And Other Poems about My Crappy Ex-Boyfriend" officially released a “PG Edition” of the popular book this week. Though it has received great reviews, the original contains adult language and situations. The PG version is much more suitable for younger audiences as most of the harsh language has been removed, and the mature content was sanitized.
Oredein originally created the modified version for her parents, who generally don’t approve of adult language or content. She later decided to formally publish it since it was now appropriate for younger audiences who could potentially benefit from it. “Young people have a tendency to feel that their world ends when their relationships end, and I was no different,” Oredein says. “I think a lot of young people could learn something from my story- but my story had plenty of f-bombs. So I cleaned it up… a lot.”
Whether the "PG Edition" or the original, “His PhD is in Hypocrisy…And Other Poems about My Crappy Ex-Boyfriend” is an emotionally driven poetic memoir that journals the ups and downs of Oredein’s first real love. Despite their interracial backgrounds (she is black, and he is white & Palestinian) and interreligious upbringings (she is Christian to his Muslim), she thought they would end up together. The assorted poems journal the love, frustration, and heartbreak, spanning from their first date to their bitter breakup, and beyond. She ends with a poem about 9/11, and reveals how her relationship with her ex ultimately taught her an unexpected life lesson that surfaced on one of the darkest days in U.S. history.
Published by Gynarchy, the PG Edition is currently available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle formats. The original version is available in paperback and ebook on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and iTunes.
Tayo Oredein is a writer from Jamaica, Queens NY. She is a graduate of Wellesley College, Hunter College (CUNY) and soon-to-be Rutgers University. She models and acts as well.
