Versatile Polyurethane Chemistry from Bayer MaterialScience Offers Advantages for Multiple Markets and Applications
New Orleans, LA, February 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Ever since Otto Bayer discovered polyurethane chemistry in 1937, Bayer MaterialScience has continued to build on his legacy by developing new technologies in coatings. As a demonstration of the company’s coatings know-how, two technical experts from Bayer MaterialScience LLC will help educate attendees of The Waterborne Symposium about the formulation, use and benefits of polyurethane chemistry.
Pete Schmitt, field technical service manager, will teach two sections of short courses offered at this conference. On Feb. 9 he will present: Formulating Polyurethane Coatings as part of “The Fundamentals of Coatings” short course. He will review the different ways in which polyurethanes are formulated for different applications and discuss the use of additives. On Feb. 10 he will present: One-component Waterborne Polyurethanes, part of the “Reformulating to Waterborne Coatings” short course. In this session he will review the chemistry of waterborne polyurethanes and discuss various production methods.
Mike Jeffries, field technical service manager, will also present as part of the “Reformulating to Waterborne Coatings” short course on Feb. 10. During High- performance Waterborne Two-Component Polyurethane he will highighlight the history of polyurethanes, discuss applications of two-component waterborne poyurethanes, and dig deeper into the chemistry, including polyisocyanate types, mixing and potlife effects, film properties and guide formulas.
The Waterborne Symposium takes place Feb. 9-13 in New Orleans.
