Jerry Beshiers Hytrol Conveyor Maintenance Manager Highlights Lean Journey
Jonesboro, AR, February 13, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Hytrol Conveyor Company, Inc., was featured in Quality Digest in the third of a series of articles highlighting a deep inquiry among members of the organization about their lean journey. Jerry Beshiers, maintenance manager at Hytrol discussed his experience in the lean continuous process.
Beshiers explained as we worked through the lean journey my job as the maintenance manager became easier because of the ownership of the process and equipment by operators. Beshiers noted, “After nearly five decades with Hytrol, lean has been one of the most important processes in our company because lean has enabled Hytrol to evolve from a mass-producing company to a lean operation working only on the product that the customer wants and needs. We are constantly looking at eliminating waste inside our value stream.”
“We redesigned our manufacturing cells to reduce and sometimes eliminate wasted motion. Through this process, we were able to streamline our product flow to move the materials in the most efficient way. Our cells are color-coded and mapped according to the type of conveyor, which not only creates an efficient flow of product, but also allows employees to become very skilled at producing one family of conveyor. This creates an additional benefit to the process by elevating the quality of product and reducing potential scrap,” shared Beshiers.
