Senior Citizens Get More Plastic Surgery Procedures, Particularly Tummy Tucks, Given Improving Economy

Better economy leads seniors to get more plastic surgery procedures.

Farmington Hills, MI, February 17, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Given the improving economy, an increasing number of senior citizens are opting for plastic surgery procedures, a prominent Detroit area plastic surgeon said today.

Dr. Michelle Hardaway, owner of the Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and Laser Center in Farmington Hills, said that more seniors are having a variety or procedures, especially tummy tucks.

“The improving economy has let seniors opt for getting procedures that make them look and feel better,” said Dr. Hardaway. “If seniors are healthy, there is no reason why they shouldn’t undergo these safe procedures. They will look better and improve their lives emotionally and psychologically.”

A recent extensive study conducted by the CosmetAssure database over a five-year period reported that cosmetic procedures are just as safe for the elderly as the young. This finding is important because as the population ages, more elderly patients are seeking cosmetic surgery. The postoperative complications rates for most cosmetic procedures in the elderly were not statistically different than for younger patients, the report stated.

She said that seniors have traditionally sought facelifts but now they are also having tummy tucks. Some of her patients are in their mid-70s.

The Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Center is located at 27920 Orchard Lake Road just north of 12 Mile road. Those wishing more information or to set up an appointment should call: 248-855-6030. The center also has a website at www.michellehardawaymd.com.
