Flagler Humane Society Volunteers to be Recognized with Presidential Volunteer Service Awards
Two FHS volunteers receive certificate of achievement from the President.
Palm Coast, FL, February 21, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Flagler Humane Society (FHS) will recognize its volunteers with an ice cream social this Saturday Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. at the FHS shelter. Two volunteers will receive presidential certificates for logging over 900 hours each at the shelter and the FHS thrift store in 2014. “We are very proud of our volunteers and are grateful for this chance to acknowledge them. Flagler Humane Society could not keep its doors open without the great work of its volunteers,” said Amy Carotenuto, FHS Executive Director.
Six volunteers logging over 500 hours in 2014 will be presented with a gold service awards pins and five volunteers with over 300 hours will be given a silver service award and pins. Two volunteers, Leatrice Amone with 1,354 hours and Manny Confusione with 922 hours, will be given the presidential award pin and a personalized and signed presidential certificate of achievement.
“Manny works at our greeter desk and is known by guests as ‘the face of FHS’ since his smile is the first thing many see when they walk through our doors. He also received a signed congratulatory letter from President Barack Obama for volunteering so much time in 2014,” said Gary Langley, FHS Volunteer Coordinator.
“Our thrift store would not run as well as it does without Leatrice’s help,” said FHS Thrift Store Manager Tom Rock. “It is a pleasure to have her smiling face here almost every day her hard work and dedication is second to none.”
“Flagler Humane Society housed over 3,600 animals last year, increased its adoptions by 25 percent and reduced the number of animals it euthanized by 50 percent. We would not have been able to make such strides without the help of our dedicated volunteers,” said Dr. Gary Shelton, FHS Board President.
Flalger Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization with many volunteer opportunities varying from dog walking, cat TLC, FHS thrift store and even laundry. It is especially in need of foster homes during the spring months known as kitten season.
