Regional Prevalence of Thyroid Cancer to be Addressed at 12th Annual Middle East Otolaryngology Conference & Exhibition
Congress dedicated to thyroid diseases, otolaryngology and endoscopic ear surgery in the Middle East
Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 26, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The 12th Middle East Update in Otolaryngology Conference & Exhibition (ME-OTO), organised by Informa Life Sciences Exhibitions, will return to the Madinat Jumeirah Arena in Dubai on 19-21 April 2015. Two new conferences will run alongside ME-OTO 2015 to address the region’s ENT needs and concerns; the 1st Middle East Thyroid Cancer Conference and the 1st World Congress on Endoscopic Ear Surgery.
Regionally, thyroid cancer is the fifth most common cancer in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. A total of 5587 cases (5.9%) were diagnosed between 1998 and 2007. Thyroid cancer has a significantly higher incident rate among females in all GCC countries and is the second most common malignancy among women. Incidence of thyroid cancer continues to incline in GCC countries with a 24% increase in males and a 63% increase among females over the ten year period.
