Central New Jersey Kids Compete in T-Shirt Design Contest for Wings of Hope Event in Honor of National Cancer Survivors Day®

Bedminster, NJ, March 01, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Kids across Central New Jersey will be sharpening their pencils and digging deep for their sharpies during the month of March as they compete in the 6th annual Wings of Hope T-shirt design contest. Winning designs will be worn by attendees at the Wings of Hope Celebration hosted by the Cancer Support Community of Central New Jersey (CSCCNJ).

Students ages 6 – 18 are eligible to compete and two designs will be selected to appear on the official Wings of Hope T-Shirts. Along with the artwork, students must submit their name, age, school and an explanation of their artwork. Two winners will be chosen – the elementary age winning design will appear on the youth t-shirt while the winner from middle school and high school entries will be printed on the adult t-shirt. Both winners will receive a shirt with their design and a Visa Gift Card.

Entries must be black and white line drawings; fit within an 8-1/2” x 11” portrait space; and should depict what “Wings of Hope” means to the artist. All entries must be received by CSCCNJ by March 31st. On April 3rd, artwork will be posted to CSCCNJ’s Facebook page where the public can vote on their favorite design. Digital art can also be accepted and should be emailed as a JPEG or PDF to pjpernot@cancersupportcnj.org.

The Wings of Hope Celebration is a family friendly day of fun with kid friendly activities, balloons, a walk through Bernardsville and a Monarch butterfly release that is timed to coincide with the Monarch’s natural migration pattern.

In addition to the butterfly release and tributes to cancer survivors, the Dawn C. Peragallo Spirit of Courage award will be presented to this year’s honoree Tom Foley. Dawn Peragallo, a participant at CSCCNJ helped create the organization’s Kids Connect/Parents Connect Support Group program. Honoring her legacy, the Spirit of Courage Award is presented each year at Wings of Hope to an individual who is affiliated with CSC and who has not only shown courage in their personal journey with cancer, but who through his/her actions has impacted the lives of others affected by cancer. This year’s honoree Tom Foley exemplifies the very essence of what this award represents.
