The very first Fairbridge Festival was staged in 1992 by Max Klubal and Sally Grice, both committee members of the West Australian Folk Federation (WAFF) and in charge of a long-standing festival in the country town of Toodyay. Max and Sally recognised the potential of the Fairbridge site and convinced the WAFF to give it a go.

Ever since becoming a not-for-profit association in 1996, the Fairbridge Festival has stayed true to its mission of catering to a family audience, and presents some of the biggest children’s and youth programs in the continent today.
