Walking Pays Off for Not-So-Generous Americans
Brooklyn, NY, March 06, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Slope for Pets will be launching Steps Fur Pets, a 6 month help-the-animals campaign set to run from April to September. The goal of the campaign is to raise donations for local non-profit animal shelters, rescues and fosters through the use of the ResQwalk app.
According to a spokesperson at Park Slope for Pets, they are not associated with ResQwalk but do have the full support and backing of the founders and owners of the app. “By making more people aware that this app exists, our initial goal of helping pets and animals gets closer. We know that saving all of the animals is an unrealistic goal, but we also know that every little step counts - literally.”
Founder of ResQwalk Bailey Schroeder says, “ResQwalk was created to give people a simple and easy way to support the animal rescues and shelters they care about. People don’t always have money or time to donate, so ResQwalk enables them to incorporate giving into their daily dog walking or general exercise routine.” You can even log in when running your daily errands.
One study done by Notre Dame’s Christian Smith and Hilary Davidson concluded, “about two-thirds of Americans do not reflect high degrees of readiness to be generous with their money, even when it comes to issues that personally concern them.” Steps Fur Pets will bypass this issue and go straight to just getting the donation done. The campaign slogan says it all: Walk with Purpose.
The free app allows smartphone users to log in during a walk and then log out afterwards. Donations to each organization are proportional to the total miles walked by all users for that week. Steps Fur Pets will be promoting ResQwalk locally in Brooklyn and New York City, in general. However, the app itself is available to be used nationally.
Each month, Park Slope for Pets, through their Steps Fur Pets campaign, will feature a local organization that supporters who log in are encouraged to support for that month. This way, donations aren’t spread too thin and each organization receives a larger amount of money in a shorter amount of time. This can turn one dollar into several dollars. Ultimately, finding donors to match the donations each month would be ideal.
