Landscape Lighting by Night Light, Inc., Wins Three Awards from Top Landscape Industry Association
For the first time ever, landscape lighting projects win two Gold Awards and top all other entries to take the Judges Award in the 2015 Illinois Landscape Contractors Association annual Excellence In Landscape Awards competition.
Chicago, IL, March 06, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Night Light Inc., the leading landscape lighting provider in the Chicago area, was recognized for their outstanding work by the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association at the industry group’s annual awards competition. Known for their innovative use of LED technology and expressive lighting style, Night Light was presented with two Gold Awards in the Landscape Lighting category for recently completed projects in the Chicago area. As the finale of the awards program, Night Light was also presented with the Judges Award which signifies the “best of show” project among all competing categories. Night Light is the only landscape lighting provider to win a pair of Gold Awards and the Judges Award in the 40-year history of the ILCA Excellence in Landscape Awards.
The award-winning projects, entitled A Shadowy Sensation and A Dusk Refuge, showcase Night Light’s aesthetic approach to landscape lighting – integrating the latest technologies with decades of design and installation experience. The company’s signature design technique called moonlighting involves installing light fixtures not on the ground, but as high as 60’ up in surrounding trees. The technique simulates the effect of a full moon painting interesting shadow patterns on the ground and other surfaces. Creating the moonlighting effect requires trained and certified tree climbers to perform the installation, and sets Night Light apart from other lighting practitioners.
Switching over to LED from incandescent several years ago, Night Light utilizes the new technology to offer more creatively and performance-wise, while using less electricity and reducing the need for maintenance. Their award-winning look is achieved from color-mixing cool, neutral and warm LED light to illuminate select landscape elements, providing greater contrast and visual interest for a result that is subtle and elegant.
The lighting design for the Gold Award-winning Evanston, Illinois project, entitled A Shadowy Sensation, emphasizes the majestic oak trees woven between expanses of lawn that frame a Mediterranean-style villa. Puddles of “moonlight” fall on the flagstone walk and lawn – illuminating the way to a recessed courtyard entry. A circular seating area off to the side features a classical wall fountain which is illuminated to accentuate the relief carving.
The Highland Park, Illinois project entitled A Dusk Refuge, won both a Gold Award and the Judges Award for its aesthetic and technical achievements in outdoor lighting. The resort-like pool and spa environment at the back of the tower-style home looks even more alluring at night. Tiny lights illuminate a “floating” bridge over the turquoise pool and reflect off the water’s surface creating a sense of movement. In the background, lighting emphasizes the texture of the stone spa and spillover amid a soft glow that spreads across the surrounding vegetation. At the front entry, leafy patterns are projected onto the home’s smooth white walls using the moonlighting technique, marrying an organic quality with the modernist architectural style.
