Lombardi’s Pizza is celebrating its 110th year anniversary, as part of the celebration they will be turning the clock back to 1905, when pies were a nickel.
New York, NY, March 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The first Italian American pizzeria in the United States, Lombardi’s Pizza, is commemorating its 110th year on Thursday, March 19, 2015. For one day only, the venerable pizzeria, located at 32 Spring St. in Manhattan, will turn the clock back to 1905, offering their classic Margherita pizza for just 5¢.
In 1897, Gennaro Lombardi came to New York City from Naples, opened a grocery store at 53 Spring St., and turned a Napoletana staple into one of the world’s most popular foods. Granted a business license by the city in 1905, Lombardi’s became America’s first pizzeria, selling whole pies for 5¢. Over a century later, Lombardi’s Pizza continues to serve world-famous and award winning pizza in the tradition of its pioneering namesake.
Lombardi's will offer this special during their normal business hours of 11:30am to 11:00pm, or until they run out of dough. One size pie will be available, a small (14 inch). Toppings and other menu items will be available at regular price. Table service will be limited to 45 minutes to accommodate waiting patrons. Lombardi's will limit this special pricing to Dine in only, with a limit of one 5-cent pie per table. Normal Pick up and delivery will be available, during the event, however special pricing will not apply.
