Introduction of New Elite Programme for A Level Students at Walford and North Shropshire College
Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 08, 2015 --(PR.com)-- Applications to study A Levels at Walford and North Shropshire College (WNSC) are ‘through the roof’ according to Sara Shelston, Head of A Levels, saying, "We are moving towards record numbers of learners applying to study with us from September 2015. We are also developing a new Elite Programme (EP) where high flyers, who demonstrate exceptional academic performance in their GCSEs, will be supported in their studies to equip them to target Russell group universities. With a 96% pass rate for A Levels, WNSC is well placed, with its experienced staff, to enable students to target the highest performing and most well respected higher education establishments."
Sara added, "Our student survey results indicate that 100% of learners report that their time at the College helps develop their skills and that their teachers are supportive, alongside 95% who would be willing to recommend their course to others; so we know we are doing something right!"
Past student, Shannon Jenkins, who attained three A grades in her A Levels, now studies at Russell Group university, Kings College London, reading European Studies. Shannon commented "In hindsight, I certainly appreciate the focus on writing regular essays and discussing theory in classes. The subjects I chose have given me a good grounding in what I am now studying. I also felt very supported by my teachers."
WNSC Principal, Jackie Doodson commented, "We are proud of our academic achievements at WNSC, last year the success rates were above the national average. This reflects the dedicated support provided by our professional staff who use their extensive experience to set high expectations of students. We provide outstanding support through our learning coaches as well as arranging extra activities such as study trips, clubs, sporting activities, work experience and so much more to ensure that students develop as individuals as well as having some fun!"
