Richard J. O’Brien Foundation Presents $25,000 to New Interdisciplinary School (NIS)
Foundation Awards Fourth Donation to Yaphank Early Childhood Learning Center for Developmentally Delayed and Typically Developing Children.
Yaphank, NY, March 11, 2015 --(PR.com)-- The New Interdisciplinary School (NIS), an innovative early childhood learning center located in Yaphank, NY, was awarded $25,000 by the Richard J. O’Brien Foundation. This donation was made possible through funding received at the Foundation’s fourth annual golf outing, which took place on September 22, 2014 at the Southward Ho Country Club in Bay Shore. Due to the generosity of past contributions from the Foundation, the New Interdisciplinary School was able to construct a new handicapped-accessible playground for the students, which was named in Mr. O’Brien’s honor.
“On behalf of the students and families we serve, our staff, and the NIS/IGHL Board of Directors, I offer sincere thanks and gratitude to the Richard J. O’Brien Foundation for their continued support of the work we do at NIS. The commitment of the Foundation to our program, which serves children with special needs in an integrated early childhood learning center, enables us to provide the children and families with the services and support they require to thrive and reach their highest potential,” said the school’s Executive Director, Jay Silverstein, PhD.
The Richard J. O’Brien Foundation is dedicated to honoring the memory of its namesake, who was very active in many non-profit organizations across Long Island. Started by O’Brien’s family and friends, the Foundation, an all-volunteer association, supports charities focusing on children in need of special care and bereavement counseling.
