WNSC Business Administration Star Apprentice – Laura Edwards
Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 15, 2015 --(PR.com)-- It’s National Apprenticeship Week this week and to celebrate the achievements of our Apprentices, Walford and North Shropshire College (WNSC) has chosen a Star Apprentice for each curriculum area the College has apprentices working in.
Laura Edwards is completing her Level 3 Apprenticeship in Business Administration; Laura works for Coverage Care in Oswestry and has done for the last two years. Before working for Coverage Care, Laura worked as a Legal Secretary for four years and has since been a stay-at-home mum. She completed her Level 2 Apprenticeship in 2002 and is doing the Level 3 Apprenticeship now to further her knowledge.
Laura discussed her role at Coverage Care, saying, "Since I started my apprenticeship, I have been answering telephone calls, dealing with enquiries from the public, maintaining filing systems and updating files. I enjoy my job very much, meeting new people, speaking to families of residents and keeping records up to date.’ Laura added ‘I was worried about coming back to work, but I’m glad I did. My employer has been very flexible and supportive; anyone can do it if they put their mind to it."
The assessors at WNSC support every apprentice with their work, Laura talked about her assessor, saying, "Sarah, my assessor, is friendly and flexible with me, she always answers my emails promptly and is available whenever I need help." Laura commented on the main benefits of doing an apprenticeship "for me, the main benefits of doing an apprenticeship are; having a qualification that you can obtain from doing a job I love; doing the work required on a daily basis; knowing I will be increasing my skills and adding to my CV."
Business Apprenticeships are available at Levels 2, 3 and 4. Small businesses can access a £1500 grant via the College for taking on an apprentice for the duration of their study.
If you are an employer who could offer an apprentice a job, or if you would like to apply for an apprenticeship, you can find out more by contacting Lucy Bowen, Work-based Learning Manager on 01691 688038 or email l.bowen@wnsc.ac.uk.
