Westcliffe, CO, March 16, 2015 --(PR.com)-- After extensive renovations, including installation of a new floor and heating system and a hearing loop to assist those with hearing aids to better enjoy our productions, the Historic Jones Theater in Westcliffe, Colorado, will hold a grand reopening on the weekend of Friday, March 27-29, 7:30 p.m. with the Academy Award winning film “The Imitation Game.”
“The Imitation Game” is the story of mathematician Alan Turing who, during World War II, tries to crack the German “Enigma Code” with help from fellow mathematicians. To crack the code, Turing creates what was acknowledged as the first computer ever constructed. Their success results in the change of direction and the final resolution of the war. The screen play by Graham Moore was honored by an Academy Award and the leading actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Keira Knightley were also nominated for awards as the best leading actors.
The film will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with a special matinee performance on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Come and be the first to check out the new “Assist to Hear” system, including complementary earphones for those who have difficulty hearing but do not wear hearing aids.
Tickets are $8 for adults $7 for seniors and students 16 and under, and $5 for children 12 and under. For more information about this event and plays, special events, youth opportunities, and other activities sponsored by the WCPA, please visit The Jones Theater website. The brick structure on Main Street in Westcliffe, which houses the Jones Theater today, originally was a rootin’, tootin’ saloon and pool hall in the 1880s, where town rowdies could hang out and spend the money they got from mining silver in nearby Silver Cliff and Rosita. It is the home of the Shakespeare in the Sangres Festival held each summer by the WCPA in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater at the foot of the spectacular Sangre de Cristo Mountains. This year's performances of the Bard's work will be "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Merry Wives of Windsor."
